Bald Mountain (Owyhees)

Date: 2013-04-06

Bald Mountain is a lower mountain in the Owhyees that gives a good view of them. The climb is a short climb from the Silver City road. After an attempt to climb to the top of some of the Owhyees early in the season I spent the day walking though a blizard and then the snow and ended up being way to deep. So after not climbing War Eagle, I drove and took a short hike to the top of Bald Mountain to enjoy the view.

Kaweah Mountains

Date: 2012-08-10 -> 2012-08-16

Located in the center of Sequoia National Park, the Kaweah Mountains are a rugged ridge that heads south from the Great Western Divide. This was a 6 day trip to base camp at the Big Arroyo river from which we did two climbs. One climb was up Mount Kaweah (13,802') and over to Second Kaweah (13680'). The second was a difficult class 3 up Black Kaweah (13680'). On the way out I climbed both Empire Mountain (11,550') and Sawtooth Peak (12,343').

Lost River Mountain

Date: 2012-07-29

Lost River Mountain is the sixth tallest mountain in Idaho at an elevation of 12,078 feet. This was the last of the nine 12,000+ peaks I needed to climb. After a nice straight forward solo climb up the standard route, I had reached my goal of summiting all of Idaho's 12,000+ foot peaks.

Mount Idaho

Date: 2012-07-28

Mount Idaho is the seventh tallest mountain in Idaho at an elevation of 12,065 feet. This was the second to last of the 12,000 foot mountains I needed to climb in Idaho and so on a nice August weekend I climbed Mount Idaho and then Lost River Mountain to complete the Idaho 12ers achievement.

Castle Peak

Date: 2012-07-20 -> 2012-07-22

Castle Peak is a very Prominent peak in Idaho. At an elevation of 11,815 feet it is a good amount taller than it's surrounding neighbors and as such can be spotted from many peaks though out the state.

Decker Peak

Date: 2012-07-04 -> 2012-07-08

It was time to return to the Sawtooth Mountains and climb Decker Peak, its third tallest peak at an elevation of 10,704 feet. I took an extra day off of work and got a five day weekend after the Fourth of July and backpacked 25 miles through the Sawtooths from Grandjean to Redfish Lake. A good paced trip with enough time to take a day to summit Decker Peak and stay two nights at Upper Cramer Lakes.

Steel Mountain

Date: 2012-06-30

Steel Mountain a major high point in the Boise Mountains. This isolated mountain sits above the surrounding area at an elevation of 9,730 feet. I took a class 2 route up the southwest ridge, and then looped around to come down the northwest ridge giving me a good view of the impressive north face.

Trinity Mountain

Date: 2012-06-16

Trinity Mountain is a lookout on top of the tallest peak in a small group of peaks and lakes known as the Trinities. From the lookout at out an elevation of 9,451 you have a good view of the Boise mountains and can see from Lucky Peak all the way to the Sawtooths.

Mount Borah

Date: 2011-08-20

Mount Borah is the tallest peak in the state of Idaho at an elevation of 12,662 feet. Due to it's status this mountain gets a lot of climbers. This climb there were over a hundred people attempting to summit Mount Borah.

Bighorn Crags

Date: 2011-08-13 -> 2011-08-18

The Bighorn Crags are a group of crags located in the Frank Church Wilderness (Idaho Primitive Area). The Bighorn Crags are a good collection of granite peaks and high mountain lakes. This trip took us 12 miles into the Crags to camp at Ship Island Lake and from there climb Sheepeater Mountain (9,920 feet) and Mount McGuire (the tallest in the crags at 10,082 feet).
