White Mountain and Twin Peaks

Date: 2019-07-07

White Mountain is the highest mountain the Salmon River mountains with an elevation of 10,442 feet. White Mountain is located next to the Twin Peaks outside of Challis Idaho. One of the Twin Peaks has a lookout on it and a road up to it. This road gave good access to the mountains and the climb consisted of following the ridge from the Road over to top of White Mountain. While up there I also climbed to the summit of both the Twin Peaks.

Devil's Bedstead East

Date: 2018-09-29

Devil's Bedstead East is a very impressive looking mountain in the Pioneer Mountains. This mountain sticks up a good amount above the surrounding peaks and has an impressive summit. I have been looking at this mountain from multiple angles for years and even had an attempt the previous year where to much snow on the mountain kept me from reaching its summit. Finally on this trip I was able to reach the summit following the standard route. Starting just north of Wildhorse Campground, I followed the trail up Boulder Creek then worked my way to the saddle north of the summit. From there you work your way around to the north face and follow it to the top.

South Glassford Peak

Date: 2018-09-01

South Glassford Peak is a point on the ridge in the Boulder Mountains just south of the larger Glassford Peak. My goal was to climb Glassford Peak by taking a long hike up the North Fork of the Big Wood River from outside of Ketchum Idaho. After a much longer than anticipated scramble along the southern ridge of South Glassford Peak, I had to drop down and go around a class four/five section. After finally working my way to the top of South Glassford Peak, as it was getting late in the afternoon, I decided to return back to the tail head and save Glassford Peak for another climb.

Faith and Luck Peaks

Date: 2018-08-11

Faith and Luck Peaks are a single mountain with two summits sitting at an elevation of 11,967 feet. Although unnamed in Lists of John site, Rick Baugher named the twin peak Faith and Luck. Faith was the name given by the person who had the first accent, and Baugher called the second summit Luck due to finding a horse shoe on the way up and leaving it on the summit. The climb followed the long west ridge from the end of the road up Elk Horn Creek.

Mount McCaleb

Date: 2018-08-07

Mount McCaleb is a very distinctive peak in the Lost River Mountains outside of Mackay Idaho. This climb started at the end of the road on Lower Cedar Creek. From there I walked around the mountain and up the saddle between Little Mac and Mount McCaleb. From this saddle I climbed both the summits.

Snowbank Mountain

Date: 2018-07-29

Snowbank Mountain is a very prominent mountain outside of Cascade Idaho above Cascade Reservoir. This mountain 8340 feet and a prominence of 3120 feet. There is a road to the top of the summit and an observation station up there. This climb was mostly a weekend drive to the top and a small hike over to the high point.

White Clouds via Big Boulder

Date: 2018-07-23 -> 2018-07-26

The White Clouds are an impressive set of mountains in central Idaho. This back packing trip into the White Clouds started up Big Boulder Creek at Livingston Mill. From there I found camp near Cove Lake in the Big Boulder Lakes. From this camp I climbed four of the 11,000+ peaks in the area including Mount Andrus, Calkens Peak, White Cloud Peak 9, and D.O. Lee Peak.

Easley and Cerro Ciento Peaks

Date: 2018-07-20

Easley and Cerro Ciento Peaks are two 11,000+ foot peaks on the main Boulder front rising above highway 75 north of Ketchum Idaho. This climb started at the end of a jeep trail up Spring Creek. From there I traversed south to western ridge of Easley Peak. Once the peak was summited, I followed the main ridge line north over Cerro Ciento peak to the unnamed peak 10941. From there I dropped down upper Spring Creek to the trailhead.

Smiley Mountain

Date: 2018-07-11

Smiley Mountain is the most prominent mountain in the southern Pioneer Mountains. With an elevation of 11,508 feet, this summit rises up a good amount from the surrounding area giving it amazing views. The route followed the long south eastern ridge to the summit. Once on the summit we followed the north eastern ridge down through Smiley Meadows then followed looped back to the trailhead.

Hawley Mountain

Date: 2018-07-04

Hawley Mountain is one of the 2k+ prominent peaks in the Boise Mountains. This peak has a road to its summit with a look out on it. I drove to its summit then walked the ridge from the mountain over to a near by summit and back.
