Goat Mountain is major peak along the main Pioneer Mountain crest with an elevation of 11,913 feet. This impressive mountain has two summits, with the northern higher summit is sometimes called Kane Peak. This summit has an impressive North face which drops steeply into Kane lake, an impressive cirque in the Pioneers. This climb was done on a smokey weekend in which I backpacked up the North Fork of Hyndman Creek and camped between its two upper forks. From there I worked my way up to the southern face of Goat Mountain then followed the knife ridge to the northern summit Kane Peak.
